Minimum pricing for alcohol effectively targets high risk drinkers
Minimum pricing for alcohol of 45p per unit [1] would reduce deaths and hospital admissions among high risk drinkers who purchase large quantities of low cost alcohol, but would have negligible effects on low income moderate drinkers’ alcohol consumption and spending, according to a new modelling study from the University of Sheffield.
